Hola a todos!
Wow, this past week has been incredible!!! We have seen so many miracles this week, and as indicated by the title of the email, we had a baptism!!! It was my first baptism in the mission, and it was very very special. The Spirit was certainly there, and although we could only have 10 people, wear masks and observe social distancing, we still had an awesome service. Our amiga Mabel decided to be baptized because she felt it was the right thing she needed to do, and she told us after that she received a witness from the Holy Ghost during the service that yes, this was the correct decision. She is a huge example of faith in my life, and I am so glad for the opportunity I had to teach her.
This week, we had a devotional with Tad R. Callister, who has written some great books, including a case for the Book of Mormon. And in our devotional, he talked about several pieces of evidence for the Book of Mormon. For example, was there really cement in the ancient Americas? What about barley? And a list of other things. And there have been discoveries of all these things and many others in modern-day Americas, but what is most important is that we have faith. In ones quest to find out if the Book of Mormon is really a book from God and is true, although there are many evidences to be found online and through other studies and discoveries, the only way to find out is through the remarkable promise found in Moroni 10:3-5, which basically says that those who have a sincere desire, who ask in faith if the Book of Mormon is a true book, the Holy Ghost will give you that witness. But nevertheless, it was such a good devotional!!
And seeing that today is Columbus Day, here is Nephi talking about him. 1 Nephi 13:12
12 And I looked and beheld a man among the Gentiles, who was separated from the seed of my brethren by the many waters; I beheld the Spirit of God, that it came down and wrought upon the man; and he went forth upon the many waters, even unto the seed of my brethren, who were in the promised land
He may not be from Spain but under the Spanish flag he found the Americas. Pretty cool to read that Nephi saw some of the people we learn about in the history books.
God Bless America, Viva España
